Hostage Situations
Roleplay Rules
Major
Hostage situations are high-stakes roleplay scenarios that require careful handling, communication with staff, and adherence to specific guidelines.
Before taking hostages:
- Have valid RP reason (not just because you can)
- Consider the story you're creating
- Ensure you have escape plan
- Alert staff in support ticket
- Must have 2+ criminals for 1 hostage
Hostage rules:
- Cannot hold hostage longer than 45 minutes
- Must negotiate with police in good faith
- Cannot torture or permanently harm hostage
- Must provide basic needs (food/water in long scenarios)
- Hostage cannot be staff member without permission
Negotiation guidelines:
- Make reasonable demands
- Work toward resolution
- Don't execute hostages without RP reason
- Police should negotiate realistically
- Both sides should create interesting RP
Police response:
- Must attempt negotiation first
- Snipers allowed with proper RP
- Can breach if hostage in immediate danger
- Should have crisis negotiator
- Prioritize hostage safety
As hostage:
- Fear RP applies (cooperate appropriately)
- Can attempt escape if opportunity arises
- Don't metagame or give criminals hard time OOC
- Create interesting RP as scared victim
- Remember this experience for future RP
Ending hostage situations:
- Hostage released: Criminals get escape opportunity
- Police breach: Hostage safety is priority
- Hostage killed: Serious RP and IC consequences
- Can't take new hostages immediately after
Staff oversight:
Major hostage situations may have staff monitoring. Follow staff directions during active situation. Staff may end situation if it's being mishandled.
Violations:
- Not alerting staff: Warning
- Unrealistic demands: Situation void
- Executing hostage without reason: 7-day ban
- Torture/excessive violence: 14-day ban
- Repeated issues: Permanent ban
